“The whole media universe is changing right before our eyes,” said Avid CEO Jeff Rosica at the company’s Saturday event, emphasizing that Avid wants to “make it easier [for customers to] create compelling content; to make sure content is readily available everywhere viewers go at any time they want to view it; and to be able to squeeze all possible value from the content, while keeping it safe.”
With these objectives in mind, Avid introduced Avid|On Demand, a cloud services and solutions platform that allows media organizations to work on a per-project basis, while advances to Avid’s MediaCentral platform feature app-based solutions for news production covering everything from information gathering and content creation through to multiplatform delivery. As Rosica explained, these tools were developed to give customers “the ability to best leverage the cloud for the way [they] want to work and todo it at [their] pace.”
Also announced were: Avid NEXIS| E5 NL, a nearline storage solution; Avid VENUE|S6L Unified Platform, an expansion to the Avid VENUE|S6L family of live sound systems; an expanded Creative Tools family; Avid Connect App, which will deliver a centralized experience for artists to find, connect and collaborate with each other; and the next generation of Avid’s Maestro|PowerWall display control and management solution.
“People have to work more efficiently, be more effective and optimize resources and investments,” Rosica said.
