Avid Gives a Collaborative Handshake

Avid CEO Louis Hernandez Jr. demostrates the “Avid collaborative handshake.”

As Louis Hernandez Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Avid, told attendees at its press conference Saturday morning, kicking off the third annual Avid Connect weekend, the message from Avid this year is all about workflow collaboration. To emphasize his point, Hernandez held up his hand with fingers formed in a “C,” which he called “the Avid collaboration handshake.”

This sold-out Avid event has become so popular that, despite 1,308 members participating — 40 percent from outside the U.S. — tickets were being scalped outside the venue.

At NAB Show 2016, Avid is introducing Avid NEXIS, which the company describes as the industry’s first software-defined storage platform that can adjust storage capacity mid-project, without disrupting workflows.

We’ll also see the new 4Designer graphics authoring software for 2D and 3D motion graphics in a wide range of resolutions, and the new Avid Spark real-time live sports enhancement telestration tool.

Avid also announced the newly expanded Avid Connectivity Partner Program, providing extensive services, toolkits and certification programs to help developers bring Avid-certified solutions to market, along with the new Avid Enterprise Marketplace, enabling media professionals to immediately access solutions from a convenient centralized location.
