GatesAir is showing its Intraplex IP Link MPXp codec, which it says can cut bandwidth consumption for uncompressed digital IP STL transport in half.
The company calls this the first FM MPX IP codec to support — “separately or together” — AES192 digital and analog composite signals over a secure and reliable digital IP path. Bandwidth reduction technology and signal parameter selection mean users can transport uncompressed AES192 as low as 1.8 Mbps, which GatesAir describes as exceptional bandwidth efficiency.
It said the codec allows stations to create analog composite transport now and switch to AES192 composite transport when it upgrades to a digital exciter. Meanwhile, dual-domain capability allows a user to install a newer audio processor supporting AES192, but have it interoperate with an exciter supporting only analog composite signal interface. This provides a transitional path for a later exciter upgrade and enhances signal quality.
