Jünger Audio and software developer Flux: launched Jünger’s Level Magic in a software format.
The loudness measurement, correction and management algorithm is designed to ensure
compliance with worldwide loudness standards. Based on the ITU-R BS.1770 (-1/2/3) principle,
it provides compatibility with EBU R128, ATSC A/85, ARIB TR-B32, Free TV OP-59 and Portaria
The system uses a multiloop approach comprising three elements to measure, and if necessary
correct, out-of-spec audio. An AGC section controls slower changing levels while a fast-acting
transient processor catches inaudible high-frequency overshoots that may otherwise cause
detrimental effects in downstream processing or coding.
A brickwall filter provides peak limiting using a 2 ms look-ahead to capture any intersample peaks.
The resulting gain-changing signal is a combination of all three elements.
The system supports major DAW platforms (AU/VST/AAX/AS) for real-time and offline
(AudioSuite) processing in 32- and 64-bit under Windows and Mac OS X, as well as mono, stereo
and multichannel 5.1 audio formats.
