To celebrate its 30th birthday, Sierra Automated Systems held a press conference led by legendary on-air radio personalities Shotgun Tom Kelly and Mark Thompson.

During the event and while champagne and hors d’oeuvres were served, the company showed a video highlighting its beginning and evolution through the years.

President Ed Fritz and Vice President Al Salci started SAS in late 1986 and exhibited their first major product, the 32000 routing distribution system, for the first time at NAB Show in 1987. While the company’s router solutions have evolved into expandable digital-based systems with multiple router frames connected via fiber, the 32000 routing distribution system is still in use and supported today.

“We wish to thank all of our great friends in the radio broadcast industry for the tremendous support for 30 years,” said Salci. “Our design philosophy and beliefs are to develop and build for longevity and reliability, and to provide complete systems solutions.”

SAS has grown to offer a full product range of digital audio network routing, mixing, console control and integrated intercom and talkback systems.
