Blackmagic Design’s announcements at its Monday press conference focused on UltraHD
capability, mobility and interoperability, and ongoing product development, according to company

In terms of UltraHD capability and capacity, Blackmagic has added 12G-SDI to its new products,
including the HyperDeck Studio 12G solid-state, disk-based deck; the Smart Videohub 12G 40×40
router; ATEM Talkback Converter 4K, a solution for providing talkback for eight remote cameras;
the Teranex Mini family of video converters; and UltraStudio 4K Extreme, a Thunderbolt and PCIe
video capture and playback solution.
When it comes to mobility, new products include the Blackmagic URSA Mini, a compact, lightweight
Super 35mm digital film camera; the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera, a Super 16mm digital film
camera; the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K, an UltraHD and HD studio camera.
Updated and expanded versions of the company’s DaVinci Resolve (now version 12) and Fusion
compositing software (now version 8) were also showcased.
Additionally, Blackmagic announced a 4.6K Super 35mm image sensor that features resolution of
4608 x 2592 at 120 fps and 15 stops of dynamic range.
