Avid Connect 2018 celebrates the fifth annual gathering of the Avid Customer Association (ACA), an innovative community of more than 20,000 members. Dedicated to addressing the needs of the industry, Avid Connect 2018 offers two-and-a-half days of thought-provoking, future-shaping experiences. Attendees will hear how many are rethinking content creation, re-engineering content distribution and reimagining content monetization. Separate registration is required. BEA 2018 April 7 From the BEA Festival of Media Arts to the latest academic research projects, today’s publishers to free software training labs, career advice for students to innovative speakers, this is where electronic media professionals and educators converge. CDSA CONTENT PROTECTION AND CYBERSECURITY SUMMIT

Whether it’s film, subscription or broadcast TV, media and entertainment is a high-level target for global piracy. During this halfday summit attendees will meet some of the experts who protect the industry’s most valuable asset, content. The conference program is produced by the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA). Separate registration is required.

TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING EMMY AWARDS

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Technology and Engineering Awards honor development and innovation in broadcast technology and recognize companies, organizations and individuals for breakthroughs in technology that have a significant effect on television engineering. NEW YORK FESTIVALS INTERNATIONAL TV & FILM AWARDS GALA

New York Festivals World’s Best TV & Films competition honors programming in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries. The Awards Gala will feature award-winning guest presenters from around the globe including prominent media executives, broadcast journalists, talk show hosts, and content creators all representing the multi-faceted media industry. #GALSNGEAR

The goal of #GALSNGEAR, launched by Women in Film & Video (Washington, D.C. chapter), is to ensure women in the technical fields of media production get high-level networking, access to gear and the latest industry technology and visibility at major industry events. #GALSNGEAR kicks off with an 8:30 a.m. Networking Coffee in the Central Lobby hosted by Blackmagic Design. From 9–10 a.m., #GALSNGEAR will host lively discussions and gear demos with female industry leaders on NAB Show LIVE! — women from across the spectrum of technical jobs in production and post. Co-hosted by Adryenn Ashley, founder of Crowded TV and Amy DeLouise, independent director/producer, the show will be live streamed.

CAREER DAY

The NAB Education Foundation in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association will host its spring Career Day featuring panel discussions, one-on-one career coaching, resume workshops and hiring opportunities for various careers within the broadcasting industry. Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with major industry recruiters including CBS News, Hearst Television and ION Media. Admission is free for job seekers, but registration is required. Recruiters will have the chance to fill open positions and receive Equal Employment Opportunity credit for their participation. Separate registration is required.

STREAMING SUMMIT

This program by Dan Rayburn focuses on the business and technical challenges in packaging, monetizing and distributing video across the broadcast, media, publishing and marketing verticals. Presentations and round-table sessions will feature case studies and real-world tips and tricks to help you get the most out of the streaming ecosystem. From ingestion and transcoding, to media management and playback, attendees can learn the best way to streamline workflow and provide the best quality experience. Attendees will also hear about the business models for content packaging, get some of the latest industry data, learn which platforms will win out and discuss how OTT is changing the broadcast landscape.
