New to the NAB Show this year is New Media Expo (NMX) featuring more than 70 sessions and 250 speakers geared toward bloggers, podcasters, Web video creators and content marketers interested in learning more about content creation, distribution, monetization, as well as networking with peers.
This is the first year that NMX, formerly called Blog-World, will be co-locating with NAB Show.
For podcasters and potential podcasters, NMX has assembled experts from the community who share their best tips for creating, distributing and monetizing podcasts. Some session highlights include “How to Get Your First 100K Podcast Downloads” and “10 Reasons Why You Should Start Podcasting.”
Adam Carolla, who holds the record for most downloaded podcast, will deliver a keynote along with Podcast One creator Norm Pattiz. NMX will also be hosting the 10th Annual Podcast Awards.
“Every podcasting session we’ve set up for you will have strategies you can implement as soon as you get home from NMX,” said Dave
Jackson, director of podcasting for NMX.
For Web video creators, NMX has partnered with the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) to assemble some of the top Web TV and video experts to share their best tips for creating, distributing and monetizing Web video content. Some session highlights include “Writing for Web Series,” “Making the Most of YouTube Space” and “Why Content Creators Should Care About Virtual Reality” led by famed futurist Ted Schilowitz. The expo will also host the 4th Annual IAWTV Awards, which this year will honor “Pioneers of the Web.”
NMX CEO Rick Calvert recently said that co-locating with NAB Show had been his goal since he started BlogWorld back in 2007.
“Since I first had the idea to launch New Media Expo, I knew that for new media content creators to get the recognition, respect, credibility and compensation they deserved, they had to go into the lion’s den and stand shoulder to shoulder with traditional media broadcasters as equals,” he wrote in a recent blog post saying he was “extremely proud” of this year’s co-location.
While the NMX exhibits will be taking place in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center with NAB Show, all the conferences will be across the street at the Westgate Resort & Casino (formerly The Las Vegas Hotel).
