Sony Unveils 4K Camera For Live Sports

“Production is exploding, from the high end to the entry level, and across delivery platforms,” said
Alec Shapiro, president at Sony Professional Solutions.

Sony filled the stage with launch customers from the live sports world to witness the unveiling of
the company’s HDC-4300 camera, which is outfitted with three 2/3-inch 4K image sensors.
Hiroshi Kiriyama, senior general manager of the Content Solutions Business Division of Sony’s
Professional Solutions Group, pulled back the drape. The HDC-4300 satisfies the needs of OB truck
owners for UltraHD cameras that can mount the long zoom range lenses needed to cover stadium
venue events.

Another much anticipated premiere is Sony’s BVM-X300 4K TRIMASTER EL OLED reference
monitor, designed to provide high dynamic range and black performance, color reproduction, quick
pixel response and wide viewing angles.

To showcase the broad flexibility of its F55 large-sensor 4K production camera, the company projected
4K clips from drama, wildlife, music video and live sports production shot with the camera. A live
demonstration of live streaming from the Las Vegas Strip and New York City worked on a single 4G
LTE connection. Video of a tour of Sony’s NAB Show booth was transmitted to the press conference
using Sony’s IP Live technology.

Sony unveiled its WGBH joint venture for public broadcasting content management.
